Handle your Business - Be Diligent

Image
Women of Business, what would you have done in the following situation? The cashier told her it was $200.00, almost $60.00 more than she had calculated it herself Well, this # womanahbusiness was diligent and politely asked the cashier to re-check her goods. What do you know? Somehow a $12.00 item was scanned in at $65.00.  As I read my friend's post about her experience, it made me think about how I was operating in my own time.  In the business of handling life, we need to be diligent with our money, our time, in our business and in life in general. A diligent person is careful, conscientious and pays attention to detail.  As a blogger, I am passionate about family, faith and finances and I would like to challenge us to be diligent in these areas. Family Like my friend kept check of her grocery budget, it is important for us to keep track of our family's health and wellness. How are the children? How is your spouse? How are we loving and ...

Arise & Blossom - Dress for Success Event, my review.

Image
Does the way you dress say anything about who you truly are?   Many in the audience on Saturday November 11 at the Arise and Blossom Women Organization Dress for Success event  got answers that were worth far more than the entry fee of $30.00 EC dollars and the local fruit drink welcome that was provided by Chillin' Restaurant (the owner, Mrs. Jacqueline Lyttle was a powerful presenter at their inaugural seminar). With fabulous local and regional speakers, the women in attendance were challenged, and encouraged. Let me say right now, I look forward to other Arise and Blossom events, but  on to my review of their most recent event.  The opening treat was a gift for the first woman that would get up and model their outfit, a gift valued at $100.00 from Stylin Chic by Auldine was enough to get the women in attendance settled and full of expectation for the rest of the afternoon. The first presenter was local Classic Fashionista, Mrs. Jean Johnny-Findlay. Impeccabl...

Mind your business - Get up again!

Image
Dear Woman of Business, I hope you've been handling your business better than I've been handling mine in recent days. There are those days when even in my role as wife, mother, daughter, woman (in no particular order) my handle game is poor.  And the truth is I've stressed, complained and murmured about it. I know, I know...."that making sense?"    But God!! Holy Spirit keeps me in check and my loved ones don't allow me to wallow in my own mess for too long.  Bless them. So I'm getting back up on the horse, 'strategizing' and reworking my system of operation.   I want to just share with you a little bit about those steps I'm taking and hopefully encourage you to start to handle your business of life in spite of the stumbling blocks you may be facing. 1. Get back on the horse Proverbs 24:16a says this about the righteous man, The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again... (NLT) Gif courtesy giphy.com I haven'...

Mind your business - Press ON!

Image
Image credit: Tumblr.com Dear Woman of Business, I know that journey called life is not very easy, and like me, you might frustrate with the distance that we have to go to achieve the dream the Lord has placed in your heart for ourselves, our families and our finances.  Today I want to encourage you. It is my prayer that this post is an encouragement to you to "keep on keeping on." I want you to take the following statement to heart; "You are called to press on in faith!"

Mind your business! Be a good steward!!

Image
Image Credit: Confessions of a Homeschooler Dear friends and Women of Business, Have any of you given much thought to the word 'stewardship' recently? It's been on my mind! My faith journey to financial education has brought me to the topic of stewardship. So, of course, I am sharing what I've been learning. What is stewardship ? One of Google's definitions is  " the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care".  I've modified it to simply means "taking good care of what God has provided me."  I've listened to many ministers speak about stewardship over the last couple of weeks, you can watch one of my favourites here .  Also, I'm reading "True Riches" by Jeff Lestz who addresses stewardship in a most holistic and comprehensive way. The book focuses on finances but urges readers not to isolate our financial responsibility from being good stewards of our health, relationships, and spi...

Mind your business - Budget!!

Image
My dear Woman of Business, Do you know why I call you a Woman of Business? For most of your working life,  you've been handling it all! You are the brains behind the way your household is run, you are the manager of your family and you are usually the one that determines how cash flows into and out of your purse.   Image Credit Money Management International I can assume that as women of business you understand and appreciate the need for a budget but I won't.

New Journey

Image
Hey Women of Business, Long time no blog, long time no see. It's my birthday today!!! In honour of my 33rd year on this earth, I want to share that I've gone through two major changes, a mental/emotional one, and a physical change.  Last year I was diagnosed with a serious skin disease (Lichens Planus) that changed my physical appearance and am just now recovering but my confidence has not been higher in ages. It's been tough, but thank God I'm making it! :) My mindset has changed towards money and this blog will now incorporate the things I've been learning about it.  I've come to realize that there are laws and principles to getting, keeping and managing money.  So I adjusted the blog's name to Women of Business, Caribbean. Women of Business, Caribbean will continue to feature fabulous and fearless Caribbean women in business, but also seek to empower women to better understand their finances in relation to their faith and family life.
